Decatur Physical Therapy
& Sports Medicine

This is what we do...

Decatur Physical Therapy is a general orthopedic clinic; We treat everything from sports injuries, post surgical conditions, joint problems brought on by age, and more. We create a physical therapy program for each individual patient, and we constantly adjust it to the progress you are making.

Pre-surgical Treatment:
Pre-operative physical therapy is designed to make you as fit as possible for the surgery, improve your range of motion, and strengthen the muscles to improve your mobility and your recovery after surgery. Keeing the joint flexible and strengthening the muscles around it will make recovery from the surgery faster and easier.

Gait Analysis:
Injury or aging can change your walking pattern, or gait. A distorted gait makes you prone to joint degeneration and causes pain. Physical therapy can identify which muscles or muscle groups require strengthening, and which require lengthening; which muscles or muscle groups require deep tissue therapy; and which joints or spinal segments will require mobilization.

Fall Prevention/Balance Improvement:
Therapy can help make you stronger and improve balance. What's more, a therapist will help you implement a regular exercise regimen to improve balance and strength, and review your environment to make it safer.

Sports Injury Treatments:
When you're recovering from an injury, you usually have two goals - get back to your sport as soon as possible, and participate in the sport to the fullest safe extent while recovering. Physical Therapy helps you meet these goals by teaching you how to support and compensate for the injured area, showing you how to minimize stress to the area during activity, and how best to treat it after sports.
